Comments:

This stone has a unique cut that resembles the shape of an eye, and is rightfully named “Cleopatra’s Eye”.  The stone was faceted by Brett Kosnar a few weeks ago from a large piece of rough and he spent over 6 hours just cutting and polishing.  The result is this large, brilliant and well made stone weighing almost 45 cts!

Comments:

This is one of the most interesting and unique Opals from Mexico that we have offered.  The stone was custom cut by Brett Kosnar a few weeks ago, but that is only a small part of what makes this gem so special.  Immediately, one can see that this is a BIG Jelly Opal from any locality.  Rarely do they approach 10 carats, let alone well over 13 carats like this stone.  Perhaps most importantly, the gem is essentially colorless at first glance, but when we put it under the mercury lamps to photograph it, an amazing electric blue sheen appeared!  This blue color is remarkably striking and rarely seen in my experience.   Some of the most well known Opals in the world come from Mexico, and this one-of-a-kind, custom "Modified Round brilliant" cut stone would make a great addition to any collection.  A special gem that truly stands out amongst many other commercial stones on the market.

Comments:

Tourmaline is beloved by collectors for its wide range of vivid colors.  It is considered rare for Tourmaline from any locality to produce yellow or orange colored stones.  Recently in Tanzania there was a find of superb Tourmaline which are now known as "Sunset Tourmaline".  The rich warm hues seen in these gems makes these stones very enticing for collectors.  This particular gem is a beautiful, nearly eye clean gem with a lovely golden color and slight green and orange highlights depending upon the angle at which the stone is viewed.  It was cut by Brett Kosnar on April 11, 2010 and has a "Modified Brilliant Trillion" cut.  It seems that these stones have quickly dried up from the market, and they are retailing for fairly high numbers with some dealers, so don't miss out on this fantastic Tourmaline of an uncommon color with beautiful custom cutting.  A beautiful stone that truly looks better in person, as the green and orange highlights really do not show up very well in the photos.

Comments:

A few years ago, there were a handful of these really large pieces of attractive color Fluorite on the market, but none of them were fine quality mineral specimens.  All of the crystals were damaged or cleaved, but all of them were transparent.  We purchased most of these specimens and decided to have them faceted.  This stone is one of the largest and most impressive gems of Mozambique Fluorite that I have seen.  It is a whopping 37.57 carats,  and shows a beautiful blue-green hue with a custom "Modified Cut Corner Triangle" cut.  The stone was faceted by Brett Kosnar about two years ago.  Please note that there is a tiny imperfection near the culet which you can see in the photos.  This gem is truly as close to eye clean as I have seen for a Fluorite this size.  The excellent color, size, quality and cutting of the stone makes is a true collector's gem.  I have not seen any more of this material on the market since we purchased them, and I have to believe that a gem collector can appreciate this stone for what it is - a remarkable and desirable faceted Fluorite from a rather obscure locality.

Comments:

Tourmalines are some of the most diverse and popular gems out there.  This particular gem was cut from a piece of rough found a few years ago in Brazil.   The stone shows a beautiful, saturated, bluish green color and just shimmers in the light.  This stone was cut a few weeks ago by Allyce Ruhl and the name of the cut is a "Modified Emerald".  The gem is very well cut and is eye clean.  Tourmaline is classified as a "Type 3" gemstone, as inclusions are almost always present, and accepted by dealers and collectors making an eye clean stone very desirable.  I have to say that these stones are becoming harder and harder to find these days with so much gem Tourmalines coming out of Afghanistan and Africa lately.
