A fantastic and hefty, twinned Ferberite specimen from the famous Tasna mine in Bolivia. This mine is probably best known for its Ferberites, and it’s because of twins like this. As a species, Ferberite is rarely found in twinned crystals, most often as blades.
This impressive and attractive twin has wonderful blocky form with very sharp faces, excellent luster and very little in the way of damage. It’s incomplete on the back where it came off the matrix, and one corner of the twin has a slight “rub”, which I consider to be trivial, as virtually every Ferberite twin from Tasna has some kind of damage.
Bolivian Ferberites (especially those from Tasna) are often and sadly underrated/overlooked, but in many instances will surpass other Ferberites from Yaogangxian or Panasqueira for size and quality.
