The largest crystal on this specimen is one of the biggest Augelites that I have seen from Bolivia. It’s amazingly well-formed, sharp, surprisingly lustrous, and DOUBLY TERMINATED! It is associated with a few smaller (but not small by any means) Augelites of similar quality. Interestingly, the crystals are included with an unknown blackish mineral (probably Jamesonite) to create an eye-catching two-toned effect.
This piece was difficult to photograph, and despite the larger size of the Augelites, there are a few rough spots here and there. It’s still a dramatic specimen and very three-dimensional compared to the large majority of Augelites from Machacamarca. Certainly a unique and worthwhile specimen for a collector of Bolivian minerals or rare phosphates.
