Amethyst on Calcite (reverse scepters)

This specimen is an attractive display piece consisting of fine quality, sharp, gemmy, lustrous, prismatic, purple "reverse" scepter and simple prisms of Amethyst associated with good quality, gemmy, white/colorless, modified scalenohedra of Calcite sitting on underlain "chlorite" on matrix. This piece is remarkable for Bolivia as it features a type of crystallization that is virtually unheard of for this country. A great piece for the quality and rarely seen crystal habit.

NOTE: Even though Calcite is widespread in the world, Bolivia is nearly DEVOID of Calcite, and the locality at Bombori has produced what are arguably the largest quantity of fine crystallized Calcites from anywhere in Bolivia. I know it’s somewhat trivial to remark on Calcite as a species, but the Calcites on this specimen are impressive for Bolivia.
