A classic association specimen from one of the most well-known mines in Bolivia. Subscribers to the Mineralogical Record know that an entire issue was dedicated to this unique and historic locality.
This piece features a wonderful, relatively sharp, deep emerald green color, blocky, twinned crystal of Vivianite, which is associated with beautifully contrasting golden Childrenite aggregates, and rare light green Paravauxite crystals. The piece looks like it’s from the famous Contacto vein where some of the most important phosphate specimens were found at Siglo XX. I believe it’s at least 50 years old and could date back further. Great condition overall and it’s not often one sees such a fantastic blocky twinned crystal of Vivianite like this, let alone with such attractive associated species.
