Vivianite with Childrenite and Paravauxite

A classic association specimen from one of the most well-known mines in Bolivia. Subscribers to the Mineralogical Record know that an entire issue was dedicated to this unique and historic locality.

This piece features a wonderful, relatively sharp, deep emerald green color, prismatic crystal of Vivianite which is associated with beautifully contrasting golden Childrenite aggregates, and rare light green Paravauxite crystals on the back/reverse side of the specimen. The piece looks like it’s from the famous Contacto vein where some of the most important phosphate specimens were found at Siglo XX. I believe it’s at least 50 years old and could date back further. Great condition overall and it’s not often one sees such a fantastic blocky twinned crystal of Vivianite like this, let alone with such attractive associated species.
