Vivianite

In the early 1980's, the Morococala mine produced some of the largest and most spectacular Vivianite specimens in history. An incredibly large "room" of crystals was discovered, producing giant plates of crystals and individual singles measuring up to 60cm(!) which were just pouring out of the mine for very a brief period of time. Then the mine manager decided that the miners were too distracted collecting Vivianite and not attending to their duties underground, so he decided to blow up the entire section of the mine where the Vivianite was being collected, thus destroying a large percentage of specimens that would have made their way to the market.

This piece is one of those famous specimens to come out of Morococala during the "Vivianite Boom". It hosts a few, lustrous, slightly "curved", sharp, prismatic, GEM/gemmy, deep emerald green crystals of Vivianite. The quality is good for this locality and is almost irreplaceable in today's market.
