Quartz with Pyrite “phantoms
Quartz with Pyrite “phantoms

An aesthetic group of very gemmy, colorless prismatic Quartz crystals which are included unique and eye-catching “phantoms” of metallic golden Pyrite floating near the terminations of the crystals. The reverse side of the specimen shows that the Pyrite is not only growing inside the Quartz crystals but is actually coating them in places as well. The piece was certainly difficult to photograph, and I would say it does look better in person. A tiny bit of edge-wear is all that keeps this piece from being perfect, but it is still a worthwhile specimen, especially if you’re a Quartz collector, or a collector of “inclusion” specimens.
