The vast majority of the Petalite crystals you will see from this locality have a distinctive "champagne" hue, which differentiates them from Petalite crystals from virtually all other world localities. This piece is notably colorless (it has a very pale golden overtone) compared to virtually everything else I've seen from the Palelni Mine. It's also one of the larger examples I've had to offer, since most others are thumbnails and this one is a full-sized miniature.
The piece is a hydrothermally etched, "floater" crystal with gorgeous flowing and stepped surface features on all sides. The entire specimen is nearly 100% WATER CLEAR, with only a few minor sub-surface inclusions that keep it from being completely transparent. I love the triangular shape of the upper portion of the piece, retaining a bit of its original crystal morphology, but still giving the piece an ethereal quality. It almost feels like it could be alive if you look at it just right. This piece was mined in 2005 and is one of the more interesting and unusual Petalites that I've had to offer from anywhere in Myanmar.
