I obtained this piece from Bill Larson, who purchased the specimen in Mogok nearly 20 years ago, and it was a part of my private collection for years. It is the finest Diopside that I've personally owned from any locality in Myanmar for the simple fact that it is notably sharp and well-formed and incredibly GEMMY! Most Diopside crystals you'll see from Mogok are often dark and typically opaque.
This piece is a beautiful bright green hue (some think this may be due to chromium content, but I never had this piece analyzed to know for sure) with distinct crystal faces on all sides. There is a bit of sub-surface iron inclusions, which gives the crystal a two-tone appearance, and a bit of character. I love the termination on this piece; it's a textbook monoclinic "chisel"-shape and rarely seen from anywhere in Myanmar
