A small discovery in 2007 at Sakangyi produced these unique and superb quality Danburite crystals. They are notably different than most Danburites you'll see from virtually any other world locality. First off, the distinctive golden color is not what one thinks of when it comes to Danburite, as most people probably think about the colorless (or slightly pink) Danburites from Charcas, Mexico. I remember a handful of golden Danburites that came out of Dalnegorsk, Russia in the late 1990s, but they weren't GEM quality like this piece.

This specimen is one of the best I've seen from the find as it is not only WATER-CLEAR, but has excellent, sharp, well-formed crystal faces on all sides. The modified termination along with the high luster and saturated golden hue all come together to create a stellar thumbnail specimen of a species that most people are familiar with but rarely have a good representation in their collections. If you collect gem crystals, thumbnails or minerals of Myanmar, do not pass up this excellent and high quality Danburite. It's not likely we will see these again, as nothing new has been on the market in over 10 years.
