These are some of the best quality Baryte crystals that I’ve seen from Muddy Creek, not to mention the habit that is so incredibly eye-catching. This small miniature specimen features hundreds of sharp, rather lustrous, very well-formed, snow-white blades of Baryte forming a beautiful “flower”-shaped group. The added touch to the piece is that there is a slight blue color that can be seen in one of the topmost crystals. This blue shade is rather rare in my experience with this material. The luster combined with the “stacked” or layered growth of the Barytes is what makes the piece so good for the locality. Additionally, the crystals have a growth that is atypical compared to most I’ve seen from Muddy Creek. This is from a find in 2010 and represents some of the best quality pieces to come out of this area in years.
