When it comes to “Milky Quartz”, the famous Ohio Mine in the Ouray Amphitheater has produced some of the finest in the world. The TOP “porcelain”-esque luster combined with the larger, very well-formed crystals make these more than just simple Quartzes. This specimen was collected by Robert Stoufer in 1989 and is a superb small cabinet display piece featuring a predominant, very sharp, HIGHLY lustrous, hexagonal prism of “Milky Quartz” which is dotted by dozens of small Quartz crystals of equal quality that are scattered all the way down three of the prism faces of the main crystal. To top it off, the matrix comprises additional sharp, HIGHLY lustrous crystals of similarly fine quality “Milky Quartz”. No damage, and just beautiful for the locality. Good Quartz specimens from this locality are among my favorite from Colorado, as they have such a distinctive appearance combined with the excellent quality.
