Enargites from the famous Longfellow Mine are amongst the best in the state, and these pieces are incredibly difficult to find in good display specimens such as this. This particular specimen is from my own personal collection, and actually once belonged to Warren Prosser, the noted author and geologist who worked in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. The piece plays host to dozens of sharp, rather lustrous, attractive, metallic silvery-black crystals with no matrix. If you are a Colorado collector, don’t let this one pass by, as it is a good representation for the species from this noted Enargite producer.
