Goethite on a “cast” after Quartz

This is an excellent specimen from one of the most storied and well-known districts in Colorado. The pegmatites near the Lake George area of Colorado have produced what most collectors and dealers consider to be some of the finest crystallized Goethite specimens from the standpoint of superb color, top quality, large crystals, wonderful display specimens and excellent associations.

This particular specimen it is a superb display piece featuring top quality, sharp, lustrous, golden-black "blades" of Goethite forming a beautiful crystallized "spray" sitting atop a hollow “cast” or epimorph after a preexisting Quartz crystal. The quality is incredibly good for Goethite from the area, and the piece is crystallized all the way around save the bottom where it detached from the pocket. Crystallized specimens like this are few and far between from Colorado.
