Collected by Carl Kolzer in 2011, this highly aesthetic display piece is from Jefferson County, not the more likely Park or Teller County locality that one might expect from Colorado. The piece is attention-grabbing with its wonderful three-dimensional quality featuring a radial group of golden-black blades of Goethite which is flaring off a Goethite “stem” that originates from a larger radial group of equal quality Goethite blades at the base of the piece. The base of the Goethite “stem” can be seen protruding from the underside of the specimen. It’s hard to find such attractive Goethite specimens from any locality in the world, and this one is remarkably good-looking.
