This Aquamarine specimen was mined by Richard Kosnar in the late 1970's and his diggings produced some of the finest color, unheated Aquamarine in the world. Most of these crystals are not gem quality, but this crystal has approximately 90% gem clarity, which is very good for the material. This crystal is a fine, sharp, GEM/gemmy, slightly hydrothermally etched, rich blue color prism of Aquamarine from one of the more obscure localities for the material. The crystal has an interesting zone near the termination that looks like a snow-capped peak.

One simply does not see these beauties offered very often on the market anymore. It is definitely one of the best blue color crystals of this material that I've seen from Idaho. A great North American gem crystal classic!
