Tourmalines are certainly among the most popular species for collectors, and no matter how many one encounters, a good one will always draw attention. This beautiful specimen has a striking color combination with gemmy colorless "Achroite" terminations, which give way to a stunning teal/blue color that mixes into an inky purple color (almost black) in the center.
This piece is a complete “floater”, with no visible point of attachment that I can detect. The unique form and stacked appearance of the crystals makes for a very eye-catching large thumbnail / small toenail sized piece. The end with the pyramidal termination is rather lustrous and sharp, while the basal terminations have more of a matte luster. For a smaller Tourmaline specimen, this one is unique, eye-catching and just plain pretty. To the best of my knowledge, the find of these crystals was very limited and I have not seen any of them available from the Pakistani dealers for quite a while. An unusually colored and attractive gem crystal.
