Fluorite is beloved by collectors for the wide array of colors, habits and localities. It is consistently one of the most popular species for both dealers and collectors alike due to its tremendous diversity. Fluorite is one of my favorites as well, and fine quality specimens still astound me every time I see them. Within the last few years, the pegmatite locality at Chumar Bakhoor in Pakistan started producing some of the world's finest quality Fluorite specimens. This area was probably best known for its Aquamarines, and the Fluorites were often typically only an association species to the beautiful Aquas. Even before the world-class Fluorites were discovered at this locality, they were still interesting with wonderful pink and green bi-color crystals, and even attractive "Spinel"-twins. When these world-class Fluorites were discovered, they immediately reset the standard for this locality, but more importantly put these specimens on the map as some of the world's best.
This piece is a gorgeous, WATER-CLEAR, pink and green bi-color specimen of Fluorite with beautiful sharp, stepped octahedral faces and wonderful overall form. It's complete on the front and displays beautifully as you can see from the photos, but it does have a cleave, so it's not completely damage free, otherwise the price would be quite a bit higher. The bi-color appearance, along with the CLARITY, may not show through as well in the photos as it does in person, as this specimen was INCREDIBLY difficult to photograph! It remains a fine quality Fluorite from this well-known locality. These have to be some of the best Fluorites to come from any pegmatite locality, as most of the world-famous Fluorites are found in ore bodies or metamorphic deposits.
