Petalite

A fantastic and very rarely seen MATRIX specimen of the "champagne" color Petalite from a recent find in Myanmar (Burma). Most of the Petalites from this locality are small, and rather etched, so it's hard to enough to fine specimens with textbook crystal faces like this piece, but to find one on MATRIX, is unheard of.

The best aspect of the piece is the crystal itself as it has remarkably SMOOTH and LUSTROUS faces with textbook monoclininc form. If that weren't enough, the crystal is complete all the way around, and so beautifully perched on the matrix. The center of the crystal is completely WATER CLEAR and would actually yield a good-sized gemstone, but somebody was wise enough to preserve this amazing specimen and didn't ship it off to the cutting factory. There's actually a second side car crystal that is somewhat buried on the side of the piece, but it's the main crystal that draws your attention.

If you have ever seen Petalites from localities in Brazil or Afghanistan, you know they can be rough looking, whitish colored and rarely gemmy let alone GEM QUALITY and on MATRIX like this amazing piece. Even compared to other Burmese Petalites I've seen, this one is so darned impressive due to its sharpness, and I can't stress how rare it is to have one on matrix. How often does one see Petalite with this color with any form of crystallization, and aesthetically sitting on matrix? Do not miss out on this one, unlike Tourmaline, Beryl or Topaz, this is a magnificent example of a non-pegmatite gem crystal specimen that few collectors have in their collections, especially in such fine quality.
