A gorgeous and aesthetic display specimen featuring notably lustrous, well-formed, complex modified scalenohedral crystals with a translucent quality ranging from white to colorless in areas. The specimen grew in a stalactitic formation, with a central "core" upon which the Calcites grew. This historic copper mining district is best known for its beautiful Azurite and Malachite specimens, but the Calcites stand out as some of the best from Arizona.
This particular piece is notably more three-dimensional and showier than most I've seen from Bisbee, and the fact that it has good luster makes it all the more desirable. The crystallization is very good for the material as well, as it's not amorphous or botryoidal, but shows fine crystal form. The largest crystal measures 4.0 cm, and the majority of the crystals are damage free, with only a few little rough spots here and there. A great cabinet sized display specimen that would make a fine addition to an Arizona suite, a Calcite collection or even a collection of carbonate minerals.
