ATTENTION CALCITE collectors! This is arguably one of the finest examples of Mn-bearing Calcite that we've seen from this mine. A gorgeous Manganoan baby pink color group of beautifully stepped "dogtooth"-shaped crystals with a gentle but NOTABLE vitreous / satiny luster that resembles a forest of cotton candy trees. No real damage (outside of the periphery) to speak of and just beautiful in person.
This locality is best known for its amazing sulfide specimens (mainly Galena, Sphalerite, Chalcopyrite) and the Calcites are not only few and far between, but they're often dull, white and without excellent crystal form. In the past they certainly have not shown the wonderful crystal habit and beautiful color seen in this piece. This is undeniably one of the most colorful and aesthetic Calcites that we've ever seen from Krushev Dol. I was told that it came from a pocket that was discovered just before the Tucson Show, and only a handful of pieces were found. If you collect Calcites, you can't miss out on this one, as this may be a one-time find.
