One of the new contemporary classics from China are the amazingly stunning pink manganoan Calcites from the Huanggang Mine in Inner Mongolia. These Calcites are so impressive due to the incredible size, quality and color of the crystals making them some of the most significant manganoan Calcites in the world.
This three-dimensional, small cabinet sized specimen hosts gorgeous compound groups of flattened / stacked rhombohedral crystals of glowing bright pink manganese-bearing Calcite aesthetically sitting atop associated rhombic pinkish-grey Calcite on silvery bladed Lollingite matrix. The luster of the Calcite groups is what really grabs my attention as it is very shiny and still "pearlescent" / vitreous when the piece is rotated in the light. The largest compound group of Calcite crystals measures 7.3 cm, but individual crystals are hard to isolate as they are so tightly intergrown. There is very little damage to speak of, as the main group of Calcite is damage free on the display side. Beautiful fiery red-pink fluorescence under SW UV light.
