Mimetite

A beautiful and fine quality small cabinet specimen from this historic discovery in China dating back to the mid-2000s. These specimens are the finest Mimetites ever discovered in China, and it's important to note that the Pingtouling Mine is finished, so we will never see another crumb of these impressive specimens again.

Dozens of superb quality, very sharp, glowing yellow color hexagonal prisms of Mimetite with a fine resinous luster are covering the underlying oxidized matrix. The largest Mimetite measures up to 1.1 cm long, and the wonderful brilliant yellow hue of the crystals, honestly is intensified by the small areas of gemminess that can be seen in various crystals. A few minor contacts are present, so the piece is not 100% pristine, but the quality is still very good for the material and the species in general.

It's a difficult piece to photograph, but it looks great in person and would make a nice addition to any Chinese suite, especially if you missed out on this lovely Mimetites when they were discovered. There are not many world localities to produce brilliant gemmy yellow Mimetite crystals like this, and although the species isn't what I would call rare, this color and quality is certainly HARD TO FIND in good, crystallized specimens.
