Petrified wood is found in a wide range of colors, but green is certainly rare worldwide. I'm told that the color is caused by nickel content, and it's not dyed, as you can clearly see solid green patches on the back (unpolished side) of the piece. The form of the original tree is clearly seen and well-preserved.

For a final touch, the piece fluoresces beautiful purple and green hues under SW UV light. We don't sell a lot of fossilized material, but we found these at the Tucson Show and couldn't pass them up due to their unique and alluring color. The species is Woodworthia sp., which is a primitive conifer from the Triassic epoch dating back approximately 200 million years. Beautiful material and certainly different from your run of the mill petrified wood.
