Here we have one of the great old classics from Mexico! This potassium, silver, copper chloride is one of the great beautiful rarities in the mineral world and is highly sought after by not only species collectors, but virtually all collectors. I think that Boleite easily ranks among the top species in the world in terms of a combination rarity and beauty.
This is a rare MATRIX specimen of Boleite featuring many fine quality, sharp, lustrous, translucent, rich blue color cubic crystals measuring up to 1.1 cm on edge. Some of the crystals show slight octahedral modifications on the corners. One of my favorite aspects of the piece is not the large crystals, but the little micro crystals that are scattered all over the piece, as they are sharper, gemmier and show excellent crystal form. Keep in mind that the vast majority of Boleite crystals you'll find are loose singles, free of matrix, so to find a piece like this with multiple crystals on matrix is a big deal. This piece is from the type locality for Boleite, and it's exceedingly rare to find specimens on the market today.
