Epidote is known from hundreds of world localities, but the finest and most desirable examples of the species are those from the world famous Knappenwand in Austria.
This gorgeous display specimen is from the collection of Kay Robertson (#3999). It features a group of dozens of fine quality, sharp, rich green color, prismatic, lustrous, crystals in diverging growth. The largest crystal shows a slightly "bent" or "curved" habit, which is rare for the locality. Typically, the specimens from the Knappenwand are too dark to see any color, but this piece features crystals thin enough that the color actually shines through with good backlighting. You can see the strong classic pleochroism of the crystals as they change from green to golden-brown when rotated 90 degrees! Overall, in great shape as the majority of the crystals are undamaged, with only a few very minor imperfections. A very good specimen of this well-known material from this renowned locality in the Austrian Alps.
