These are such eye-catching and unique Calcites from the Grabiszyce Quarry, which is in far southwestern Poland near the Czech border. The pieces were collected starting in 2015, but they were not revealed to the public until 2018. According to the information online, the area that produced these specimens is nearly finished, so it seems there will be little available to purchase after the initial offering. They made a big splash at the Tucson Show in 2018 and were very popular with collectors as you might expect due to their intense orange color and beautiful crystallization. The Calcites form in radial "sprays" consisting of narrow crystals on brecciated basalt matrix. Most of the cavities that produced these specimens are small and narrow, and it is very difficult to find pieces without damage and good coverage of crystals.

This piece is a fine example of this exciting material featuring full coverage of sharp, translucent, rich orange-colored crystals. No damage on the display side (save at the bottom edge where it was removed from the pocket wall) and very eye-catching up close. Additionally, the piece shows an unusual muted creamy-golden fluorescence under UV light. If you collect worldwide Calcites, you must add one of these to your collection.
