From a 2017 discovery in Zimbabwe, here is a beautiful banded Agate specimen. This piece has not been dyed or altered in any way; the color is 100% natural. You can tell when you look at the back of the specimen that the color is consistent throughout, even in the unpolished areas. Our source for the material didn't want to disclose any specific locality information, perhaps to protect their discovery from "poachers". With that said, when we found these specimens, we were immediately impressed with their fantastic coloring and patterns.
This piece has a wonderful combination of smooth, flowing, free-form "bands" which are starkly contrasted by the defined, geometric, parallel lines. The colors range from purple, lavender, lilac, mauve, pink and white with other tones in between. The front of the specimen is polished to show the fantastic pattern inside. I love the fact that the outer rind on the front is complete all the way around, although it is contacted on the back. If you collect Agates, be sure to pick one of these up. There were very few available, and we hope to have more, but for now we only have a couple to offer, so don't miss out.
