Chrysoberyl is a well-known beryllium oxide mineral, often seen in fine quality twins, famous from the small state Espirito Santo in southeastern Brazil. Most people are familiar with the highly sought after and beautiful "sixling" and "heart-shaped" twins, but this piece is a notably different style than the traditional twins.
The piece is a narrow / elongated twinned group with sharp, lustrous, well-formed faces and a pleasing yellow-green hue with moderate translucency. You can see the "V"-shape of the twin when viewed down the length of the specimen, and when the piece is viewed from the side it resembles a dolphin or a shark with a small dorsal fin flaring off on edge. While the piece is in great shape on the top/display side, the underside is contacted where presumably it was either connected to the pocket wall or possibly attached to another Chrysoberyl crystal.
This is without question one of the most unusual and unique twinned Chrysoberyl specimens that we've had to offer and if you collect gem minerals or interesting twinned minerals, don't miss out on this one, as you'll probably not find another like anywhere else.
Specimen weight is 26.81 carats.
