Here we have a wonderful matrix specimen of Cuprite featuring a sharp, well-formed, dodecahedral crystal group of a dark metallic red hue measuring 1.2 cm aesthetically perched atop matrix and associated with mint-green colored copper-bearing Dolomite. With strong backlighting, the Cuprite shows a slight bit of translucency around the edges, revealing a brighter red color. The combination of Cuprite with copper-bearing Dolomite is RARE from Tsumeb, and I've only seen a few pieces of the material over the years. This one is certainly the finest quality and showiest example with the Cuprite crystal group sitting prominently atop the specimen. The piece sits beautifully on its own without the aid of a base or clay. A wonderful overall specimen from this renowned locality.
