Axinite is typically considered a collector's stone. This is a beautiful amber color gem with an "Oval Brilliant" cut. Depending upon the light under which it's viewed, the stone can show flashes of golden, pinkish-purple, yellow-green and a clove brown hue. It also shows trichroism, as it does a slight change color when rotated in different directions.
Axinite rarely forms in crystals that are gemmy or thick enough for faceting. Finding an Axinite gem over 1 carat is very impressive. These stones are very rare considering that rough is extremely difficult to find not to mention that this area of Pakistan, which produced this material, has been dry for years. I was able to purchase this gem from an old source who had some leftover stones in their inventory. It is difficult to find Axinite in clean stones, so inclusions are accepted by most collectors and dealers.
This stone has very slight inclusions, which is more than acceptable for what it is. Axinite is hard enough that it can be worn in jewelry, though it is a bit brittle. A great rare gem for any collector of these types of stones.
