A very attractive “locality” specimen from Corocoro which was collected in October of 2010. Most people are familiar with the Copper pseudomorphs after Aragonite from this locality, but to find non-pseudomorphic native Copper is rather rare.
This beautiful, aesthetic, branching, arborescent group of crudely crystallized Copper is a great display specimen from this historic locality. For the size and aesthetic, this piece is one of the better samples of this particular material that I have handled. Keep in mind that the majority of Copper from Corocoro is not crystallized whatsoever, so this one is certainly worthwhile for a collector of Bolivian minerals, or native elements. Good Bolivian Coppers are not common on the market, and I'm told that the locality was purchased by a Korean mining company, so collecting and obtaining specimens will become very difficult in the future.
