Citrine (natural color)

A gorgeous, one-of-a-kind, custom faceted stone with a concave "Millennium Hexagonal Star" cut. The stone has facets on the pavilion that are cut INTO the stone to create more life / brilliance in the gem. Since Quartz has a lower-than-average refractive index, a cut like this will make it shine in any light. With that said, the effect is somewhat three-dimensional and is very difficult to capture in a two-dimensional photograph, so take my word for it, this one is BETTER IN PERSON!

We purchased this stone from a friend of ours who facets gems in the Czech Republic. He said that he obtained the piece of rough from a Brazilian dealer who told him that it was natural unheated Citrine. This is significant as most Citrine on the market usually starts as Amethyst that has been "cooked" to create the yellow / orange color. The color in this gem is much gentler and doesn't look heated to my eye. A really special gem that would fit beautifully into any collection, but this one truly screams to be set into jewelry! Citrine is also one of the modern choices of November birthstone.
