Purple is one of the rarest colors in the gem world (if you eliminate Amethyst). There are few purple gems out there, and Creedite is certainly one of the most elusive, especially in this color. In the early 1990s, a small amount of this uncommon halide species was discovered at the Akchatau Mine in Kazakhstan, and even though few specimens were found, they were some of the finest color examples of the species outside of Santa Eulalia, Mexico.

This Cut Corner Rectangle cut stone has a lovely light purple / lilac hue with very slight inclusions, which is much better than the majority of Creedites I've seen over the years. Most Creedites are translucent at best, but this is a GEM QUALITY stone. Regardless of size, it would be a very worthwhile addition for any rare gem collector. If you collect rarities, this is a great opportunity to pick up a stone that is seldom seen on the market, and more than likely will never be found at the Akchatau Mine again.
