Here we have an exciting piece of Precious Opal replacing Petrified Wood from the Java, Indonesia. This piece was mined in 2019. It features tiny spots of highly colorful Precious Opal which shows bright color flashes of red, gold, orange, yellow and green which have formed in brownish-black Petrified Wood. The specimen is slightly polished / rounded to help the Opal really shine. The Opal honestly doesn't need a strong light to show off the color, and it's really pretty when viewed up close.
This piece came us direct from a friend who travels to Indonesia to buy material. It's very worthwhile for collectors because it's not just a mineral specimen, nor a gem specimen nor a fossil, but a combination of all three.
