Pezzottaite is a cesium bearing species that is related to Beryl and was discovered in Madagascar in the early 2000s. It is definitely one of the rarest and most beautiful gems on the market today. This material was originally thought to be a variety of Beryl but now stands as its own species due to the fact that Beryl is hexagonal, and Pezzottaite is trigonal. This material has one of the most unique colors in the gem world with a rich, intense distinctive pink which truly doesn't resemble any other gem.
This beautiful stone has a lively pink color and a "Round Brilliant" cut from the original discovery in the early 2000s. This gem has slight inclusions, but it's quite difficult to find completely clean Pezzottaite stones. The supply of Pezzottaite has unquestionably dwindled to virtually nothing in the past few years, and the price of the top stones is on the rise. A great rare gem for the collector, and nearly impossible to replace on the market now.
