Sphalerite

Gem quality Sphalerite is found around the world in virtually every color of the rainbow except for blue and purple. This stone was cut in August of 2017 and shows a rich golden hue that is highlighted by flashes of yellow, blue-green, gold and orange. Due to the high refractive index of Sphalerite, the material will dance with color under strong lighting. This stone probably looks best in direct sunlight, but any strong light will show off the color well. It was a difficult stone to photograph, and I really think it looks better in person. A fantastic, brilliant collector quality gem with a custom cut from this famous ore deposit in Bulgaria.
