A stunning and truly eye-catching, remarkable, large Tourmaline gem from the limited finds at Ogbomosho, Nigeria in the 1990s. This stone is a large, impressive, “Portuguese Oval” cut gem with remarkable eye-clean clarity and a gorgeous light pink color face up. When the stone is viewed along the girdle on its side or even underneath through the culet, you can see that there is a mixture of beautiful orange and pink tones, creating a very pleasing peach / sunset hue.
It is important to note that Tourmaline is classified as a Type-3 gemstone, which means that inclusions are almost always present and accepted by dealers or collectors, so when you have a large 30+ carat stone like this with such impressive clarity, it’s as good as it gets in terms of quality. Every year Tourmaline is reported as one of the top-selling colored stones in the world, and for good reason since it is found in essentially every color imaginable and is one of the few naturally occurring multi-colored gems in existence. A world-class example of this material from Nigeria which hasn’t been available on the market for over 20 years.
