Tourmaline (var: Indicolite)

A classic Brazilian Indicolite dating back to finds from the 1980s. This material came to us from a friend who had been stashing them away for years. The enticing blue color (with a slight greenish overtone) combined with the excellent clarity make for a great example of this hard-to-find material. Indicolites are well-known in the gem world, though they're often so dark that they look black, but this gem shows excellent color without needing to be blasted with light.

Keep in mind that Tourmaline is classified as a "Type-3" gemstone, so some inclusions are almost always present. When you have a good-sized gem like this combined with the beautiful color and above average clarity, it's a big deal for Tourmaline. It would look great in a pendant, or if you collect Tourmaline gems, it could easily fill a nice spot in your collection.
