Tourmalines are one of the few gems that occur in natural bi-color or tri-color stones. This stone was cut from a crystal found nearly 40 years ago in Brazil. The stone shows a rich blue-green color on one end with a wonderful pink hue on the other end and a beautiful colorless thin "Achroite" zone in the middle.
Tourmaline is classified as a "Type 3" gemstone, as inclusions are almost always present, and accepted by dealers and collectors, so the slight inclusions in this gem are par for the course, and do not diminish the quality in my mind. This is a nice overall NATURALLY occurring tri-color gem that would make for a good piece of jewelry or even for a gift for somebody with an October birthday as Tourmaline, along with Opal, are the birthstones for that month.
