Tourmalines are one of the few gems that occur in natural bi-color or tri-color stones. This beautiful stone was cut from a crystal found nearly 40 years ago in Brazil. The stone shows a distinct pink color throughout the majority of the body of the gem, with a lively green color on the other end and a beautiful colorless thin "Achroite" zone in the middle.
Tourmaline is classified as a "Type 3" gemstone, as inclusions are almost always present, and accepted by dealers and collectors, but this stone only has a tiny bit of inclusions, which is pretty remarkable for Tourmaline. This is a great NATURALLY occurring tri-color gem that would make for a beautiful piece of jewelry or even for a gift for somebody with an October birthday as Tourmaline along with Opal are the birthstones for that month.
